Den passiva rösten på engelska används för att uttrycka vad som görs mot någon eller något. Här är några exempel:

I var och en av dessa meningar gör meningarnas ämne ingenting. Snarare görs något med ämnet för meningen. I varje fall ligger fokus på föremålet för en handling. Dessa meningar kan också skrivas med den aktiva rösten.
Ägarna sålde företaget för 5 miljoner dollar.
Jack Smith skrev romanen
Ett byggföretag byggde mitt hus
Välj passiv röst
Den passiva rösten används för att fokusera på objektet snarare än motivet. Med andra ord, vem som gör något är mindre viktigt än vad som gjordes mot något (fokuserar på den person eller sak som påverkas av en handling). Generellt sett används den passiva rösten mindre frekvent än den aktiva rösten.
Som sagt, den passiva rösten är användbar för att byta fokus från vem som gör något till vad som görs, vilket gör den särskilt användbar i affärsmiljöer när fokus läggs på en produkt. Genom att använda det passiva blir produkten i fokus för meningen. Som du kan se från

- The passive röst is used frequently. (= vi existerar intresserade från passivformen, ej av den som använder den.)
- The house was built in (= oss är intresserade av huset, inte från den vilket byggde det.)
- The road is being repaired. (= vi existerar intresserade från vägen, ej av dem personer liksom reparerar den.)
Ibland använder oss passivformen därför att oss inte vet, eller ej vill yttra, vem vilket utförde handlingen.

- Every year thousands of people are killed on our roads.
- have been eaten.
- My fordon has been stolen!
Passivformen används ofta inom formella texter. Att byta till aktivform gör ditt skrivande tydligare och mer lättläst.

An active sentence like I drank two cups of coffee has the subject first (the person or thing that does the verb), followed by the verb, and finally the object (the person or thing that the action happens to).
So, in this example, the subject is 'I', the verb is 'drank' and the object is 'two cups of coffee'.
But, we don't always need to make sentences this way. We might want to put the object first, or perhaps we don't want to say who did something. This can happen for lots of reasons (see the explanation further down the page). In this case, we can use a passive, which puts the object first:
- Two cups of coffee were drunk (we can add 'by me' if we want, but it isn't necessary).
How to make the Passive in English
We make the passive by putting the verb 'to be' into whatever tense we need and then adding the past participle. For regular verbs, we make the past participle by adding 'ed' to the infinitive. So play becomes played. Click here
